There's a lot of info in this book, but I don't know how useful it would be for most people who raise a few chickens in their backyard. I learned a lot about Marek's from the book, which was great for me because my birds came down with it, and the book helped me to understand what's going on. There isn't much you can do for your bird once it gets afflicted with Marek's so I didn't find any remedies for it, but it gave me peace of mind about not spending a ton of money trying to treat my chickens.You also get a bit paranoid reading this book, because if there is anything wrong with your chicken, this book has a long list of diseases that chickens can get, so you wonder if it's at all possible to raise healthy chickens.It would have been helpful if the author provided dosages for the recommended drugs or supplements. Also, there are hardly any natural remedies recommended, which is a shame because some things can be addressed with natural remedies. Fresh Eggs Daily is a book with lots of good info, but no one seems to have it in stock. I got my copy of it from a local bookstore.

I love this book so much that I keep a copy in my house and one in the cupboard of the brooder house. It isn't a veterinary manual, but it is great for maintaining basic health and administering first aid to my flocks. I have diagnosed and healed many birds with different injuries or ailments over the years using the information in this book.More than that, I have recommended it to many people, and given it as gifts to others.If only there were a comparable edition for waterfowl! I am no longer raising chickens, just ducks and geese.

This book is a bit overwhelming (for me), but is very good. This author knows his chickens and understands how to embed this knowledge into a book. This is a reference book with step-by-step details for diagnosis.Excellent indexes and very good descriptions for the backyard hobbyist.Information for just about any disease that chickens could have with a lot of details. I have no medical background so I don't know how solid the information is, but I learned a lot about potential issues and solutions for my chickens.I have eight chickens that I raise for eggs, and enjoy just watching them each afternoon. Two years experience with raising chickens.

This is my go to medical symptom identification, prognosis and treatment. It even has shedules of a chick's age when you could see signs of each illness. It is thorough and comprehensive. It is packed with charts and a glossary to help the non medical student make sense of anyting that could plague your chickens. This is a Must Have for anyone raising chickens either for meat or eggs or simply for pets.

This is the first book I turn to when I have a question regarding the health of my chickens. I breed purebred bantams and large fowl, (as well as ducks, guineas, and geese.) This book was great 12+ years ago. The second edition is out now, and it's amazing. I wrote a review in JAVMA for the second edition after reading both it and the first edition. The new release is an excellent reference for both flock owners and veterinarians.

If you just want a pet chicken or two in your back yard, you may be able to get along fine without knowing what's in this book. But if you need to get serious about the health and well being of your flock, do yourself a big favor - read this book cover to cover at least three times.You and your birds will be glad you did.

I bought this book to plan my hike. Great maps, great resources. However, information is WRONG! I bought the book since the copyright was 2016, I thought it would be ok, however, regulations have changed and you must book in advance. The additional resources of aregentia are great.

This is probably best trekking book for Torres del Paine. It gives detailed description of trails, how and where to reserve refugios, and advise about maps. Interestingly, map (I think from Zagier) has a lot of trails that have not been covered In the book. Actually, I did not find description of remote trails in any other travel book.

Good guidebook. It could use some info on the permit process....how far in advance are they available, where to get them. Also could use some info on tent camping only.

Compact little guide to a wonderful place. Tells you what you need to know to walk the essential walks. Liked the waterproof/weatherproof cover, too.

It's a great guide. It covers all the points that you want to know before to go. The information is update and you have all the tips about the trips. Great guide.

Loved this, great overview of the park and how to get there plus detailed info on specific walks. Can’t wait to go there!

Dallas Cowboys: The Complete Illustrated History. Minneapolis, MN: MVP Books. 2010 192p, illus. 30.00 (list) ISBN 978-0-7603-3520-8When I got my copy in the mail (July 22), my initial reaction was "Wow". Beginning with the frontispiece photograph (Landry statue under Texas flag) to the flysheet illustration (Aikman dropping back to pass), the beautiful photographs are a mere prelude to the superb materials that follow.The author chooses an interesting format for organizing his material: he breaks down the history of the team into eras by quarterback. I don't think I've ever seen a team history organized this way, but it makes sense because, as Aron explains, most fans tend to think of the Cowboys' history in terms of the starting quarterback(s) at the time. The author identifies the following eras:Eddie LeBaron (1960-63)Don Meredith (1964-68)Roger Staubach I (1969-74)Roger Staubach II (1975-79)Danny White (1980-85)Steve Pelluer (1986-88)Troy Aikman I (1989-95)Troy Aikman II (1996-00)Looking for a successor (2001-05)Tony Romo (2006-09)In each era, Aron provides a summary of the highs and lows of each season. Sprinkled throughout are color-coded features (yellow: Legends; green: Games to Remember; blue: Polishing the Star; gold: Rivalries; and gray: You Make the Call). The 37 "Legends" features 33 players, two owners, two coaches and one GM (I know that totals 38, but Cliff and Charlie are combined in a single feature). Omitted are some pretty famous names: Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas, Chuck Howley, Billy Joe DuPree, Tony Hill, Deion Sanders, Ralph Neely, Cornell Green, Larry Allen, just to name a few -- but you can't include them all, and I cannot fault Aron's choices.The eleven "Games to Remember" include all the Super Bowls, the Ice Bowl, the "Hail Mary" game, and Roger's last regular season game (the thrilling come-from-behind 35-34 victory over the Redskins in the '79 season finale). Again, I can't quibble with the games he included and while you can't include them all, I was surprised the '72 playoff against the `Niners and "The Catch" were omitted. Other possible "Games to Remember" that didn't make the cut include: the '94 NFC Championship Game loss to the `Niners; the '66 NFL Championship game loss to the Packers; and Romo's miraculous comeback against the Bills in '07.The fourteen "Polishing the Star" features cover miscellaneous historical items that aren't players or games, e.g., the story of the Cowboys' name and logo, and an overview of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Again, some noteworthy items were not included: the trade for the rights to Tony Dorsett, or the Walker trade that allowed the JJs to draft the players that made the `90s dynasty possible (in fairness, both trades are discussed in the narrative).The obvious rivalries are included: Redskins, Eagles & Giants, but historical rivalries with the Steelers and Packers, while discussed in the text were not included as features. The most interesting features are the four "You Make the Call" questions; e.g., who was really the Team of the 70s? Is there an anti-Cowboys bias at the HOF? This "interactive" feature will certainly lead to many discussions and debates.While I may have included different players or events, page limits being what they are, Aron had to make some tough choices so I won't fault him for that. The book was well researched, but a few glitches managed to slip by the editors: Tex Schramm was an "owner" (p77)? In fact Schramm eventually obtained a minority stake in the team, but the typo is an obvious reference to Schramm-the-GM; p104: the caption refers to the Rams but the photo is actually of the Cardinals; p108: the reference to "East Commerce State" should "East Texas State" (now Texas A&M-Commerce), Harvey Martin's alma mater; p122: Aron says Tom Landry enlisted in the Army Air Corps out of high school but he actually spent a semester at the University of Texas before flying B-17s in World War II; on p160, Aron writes that Bill Parcells is the only head coach in Cowboys history with prior NFL experience, but of course, Tom Landry, Chan Gailey, Dave Campo and current HC Wade Phillips all served as assistant coaches in the NFL before they took over as HC for the Cowboys. Aron meant that Parcells was the only Cowboys HC to have previous NFL experience as a head coach; on page 172, he writes that the '07 Cowboys lost to the undefeated Patriots on the road but of course that game was at Texas Stadium.More important than those relatively minor errors, I got the sense for most of the book that Aron relied exclusively on secondary sources for his material, rather than interviews. I could be mistaken, but the tone and tempo of the narrative picks up noticeably around the 1999-2000 timeframe, which happens to be when Aron began covering the Cowboys for the Associated Press.Those minor issues aside, this handsome volume very much deserves a place on the bookshelf of every Cowboys fan. Since 2010 is the 50th anniversary year of the Cowboys, we can expect a bumper crop of books about the team (over 20 by my count, including juvenile books). My husband is a die-hard Cowboys fan, and I knew this was the perfect gift for him for Christmas!It spans from 1960 to 2009, and is split into "eras", ending with the Tony Romo era. There are vivid photographs throughout, and each section is split up and easy to read. Very interesting, even for a non-football wife to read, though I will admit, I will not be finishing the book. That's simply because I just am not into football, not because of the book.

Photos are amazing! The book is broken into chapters that are easy to read and full of information. It also has the Romo era included. I didn't realize when I bought it for my father that it was so current. Larger than average book makes for a great coffee table book.

I haven't really looked at this a whole lot but my husband who is a Cowboys fanatic seemed to really like it. Our son purchased it for him for Christmas. It is big heavy and bulky and takes up a lot of room on the book shelf!

I loved this book! The author does an amazing job at telling people who are thinking about going to law school how they can know for sure whether law school is for them. Then, he tells them how they can go to law school for free (by acing the LSAT!). Once they ace the LSAT and get offers of scholarship, he helps them use his Four Commandments to pick a school. It’s a hard decision that a lot of people get caught up on, but these Commandments are practical and can be used by anyone. I’m telling my family members about it. Then finally, he explains what to do once you are in law school, which is really different than any professor or dean is going to tell you. But it could save your life and help you land a job. This book only costs $12.99, but it could save you hundreds of thousands of dollars and a lot of headache. 5 stars!

I graduated from law school in 1990. Much has changed in the world since then. Although I attended a private law school, tuition today requires one to give full consideration of what is realistically ahead in the practice of law. This is where Andy's advice becomes helpful. He offers a perspective that is different from the traditional law school advice model.Part of becoming a "lawyer" is being able to understand, accept and analyze different perspectives and approaches. If all you do is buy into the old ways of thinking (relative to law school), you will do yourself a disservice. Read Andy's book and identify 5-6 key points that he raises. Meet with law school administrators, lawyers, judges and ask them their perspective on those key points. Talk to recent graduates from the university(ies) you are considering. And then, weigh all the information you receive regarding your questions.All in all, an easy read, a valued perspective and definitely worth the cost.

This book is full of useful information in which you can either read chapter by chapter or skip around.I’m a first-year associate attorney wishing this book had come sooner. As an attorney I’m constantly in and out of courtrooms, meeting with clients back to back and drafting many motions, petitions, contracts etc. One of the advice Andy provides in this book is to observe the courtroom trials, hearings, attorneys, judges etc (I’m paraphrasing). Spend a good chunk of your time observing these attorneys in action instead of worrying about recitation and reading case laws. I completely agree. During the months leading up to the Bar results, I spent time at the courthouse. I learned more in that brief time observing and chatting with attorneys than I did in almost all my classes. Some things you won’t learn in class, no matter how great your professor performs.This is the book all prospective & law students should utilize. There’s so many great advice that it’s worth the purchasing no matter where you are in your legal education.In full disclosure, I met Andy at an event, where he was the guest speaker. In fact, I have seen him speak at 3 law school or law-related events. Andy has services that go well beyond this book. At the recommendation of a relative, I was asked to read this book. I have friends who have kids contemplating law school. Picking the right law school to attend can be both frustrating and costly as all education is today. Making the right decision on a law school on the way to becoming a lawyer is paramount. The method that the author followed in his book could be used for other disciplines in the educational process.I highly recommend that all students contemplating law school read this book as one of the many resources available in making a decision.
