I was born during World War 11 and admit to knowing little about the second World War and our brave fighter pilots. Of course, I had heard of the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker. I knew he was the squad leader of the legendary 94th Aero Squadron in World War 1, but that was about it.This book really brought the early 1900s into focus as it weaves a fascinating tale of Eddie Rickenbacker's life. He truly was an amazing person. This huge 361 page volume comes to life because the author of "Enduring Courage" makes this story full of excitement forcing you to keep turning the pages. This book follows the early history and final days of a true American patriot and hero. This excellent book is organized into four sections (or books).The first book (Racing) covers chapters one through five and deals with the early days of Eddie and his father and mother who were German immigrants beginning a new life in the United States. Life was very hard at that time. When Eddie's father died the young man had to take over the leadership of his family. Fortunately, Eddie's mother was a very strong person. This section also tells of Eddie Rickenbacker's first introduction to cars and racing. This is where he first became well-known for his courage on the race track. The second book (section-Flying) focuses on the first flying experience of young Eddy and his first introduction to learning how to fly the early death traps they called planes. He became an expert pilot. The third book (section-Fighting) deals with World War 1 and America's entry into that war with the British and the French fighting Germany. Eddie and a few other expert pilots became known as "Ace Pilots" in his 94th Aero squadron. The last section (Immortality) deals with the incredible courage and durability of Eddie Rickenbacker. Not only had he survived car crashes in his racing days, and his close calls flying the "death traps" , but he also survived a plane crash in the ocean. When all hope seemed to be lost after many days at sea in a small life boat Eddie again showed his leadership and courage by taking charge until they were rescued.To be honest, this short review cannot do justice to this wonderful and inspiring book. I now know more about the legendary and courageous Eddie Rickenbacker than most people. This book in my opinion is a must read for anyone who desires to see what true enduring courage looks like in a person. He was an authentic American hero we should all remember.Rating: 5 Stars. Man, what a life this guy had. He had more than nine lives for sure and you will understand why when you finish reading this book.I purchased this book because I wanted to learn about America's first Ace of Aces and what made him so good. Just about every biography starts off with the mandatory beginning of explaining the persons childhood which I always find a little boring and this book is no exception. But once you get through that and into how he started his race car days there is not a dull moment in the book or in his amazing life. I especially ordered this book so that I could learn more about his crash in the pacific during WWII and how he set the survival at sea record for a little while until another now famous Louis Zamperini surpassed it just a little while later in the war.The number one thing that I learned from this book was that Rickenbacker was not just a wild crazy former race car driver but also a natural born leader. My favorite high-light from the book was:Throughout history the best-prepared fighters in all of combat’s endlessly changing forms have faltered, stumbled, and failed without strong leadershipI highly recommend this book.

I really prefer not to give this book a rating but merely describe what's inside.First, the Amazon product description is accurate. The book comes with an audio CD. It is a kids' story-book type book (thin but large = 8-1/2" x 11"), primarily in the German language with text in a large font.As Amazon indicates, it is 32 pages - so 2 sides per page equals 16 sheets. Again, story-book type book for either a child to read or a parent to read as a good-night story.The English translations are provided for the text on each page, but due to "real estate" limitations, German text, song lyrics, and English translation and graphics competing with each other, the font for the English translation is about 1/2 the size of the German font and sometimes the translation "refined" to make it more concise (and require less space on the page).The quality of the narration and music / singing is available on the Amazon web site for preview, so one can form their own opinions before deciding whether to purchase this book.The selection of songs is somewhat confusing because the primary focus of this book is German traditions, so including songs translated into German, such as White Christmas (USA, Irving Berlin in 1930's / 1940's), Winter Wonderland (USA, 1930's), and Jingle Bells, is kind of an oxymoron. But the author identifies which songs are traditional German carols.The book only provides complete lyrics for 2 or 3 songs. Only the first and maybe second stanzas of the remaining songs (13 or so) are provided on the pages. It was a let down to see Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht (Silent Night Holy Night) presented with only a single stanza in both versions: English and German. FYI, there are 3 stanzas in the song.In a nutshell, I believe this book is best used by a German speaking parent or grandparent to read to young children before going to bed in the weeks before Christmas telling their (grand)children what Christmas used to be like for them, with maybe some milk and cookies using the recipes in the book - book only provides 3 (Cinnamon Stars, Lebkuchen = Gingerbread, and Baked apples_.It is charming book - but falls short of being a reference on German Christmas traditions.Since it is intended to be a bi-lingual "Teach Me" book, I struggle to think which would've been better: English in large font, with German on the side lines, or as is. For children in the US, I think the former is the better, as I doubt very few kids would have German language skills to read this book at such a young age.

Very nice book. We bought the book to share family tradition with our children: please do read the "poor" review regarding what is represented in the book along with the commenters' responses. Apparently this may disagree in places with some of the holiday traditions some have experienced. There are differences in the way a culture may celebrate a holiday such as Christmas, however, so perhaps simply be ready to explain how your family may have done things differently if the book deviates from your tradition. (Although things like celebrating St. Nicholas and Epiphany, as an example, are things that are not part of US culture, but do occur in Germany, and they are highlighted in the book...) Overall, I think it represented the spirit of the holiday culturally quite well, and particularly important to me, it did so *IN GERMAN*, not just in English, and not only written, but spoken as well.

For anyone who has spent time in Europe during Christmastime, this is sure to bring back fond memories.This book explains German Christmas traditions with good detail. Each tradition is written out both in English and in German. Overall the translation is good, but centered more on meaning than word for word. The accompanying CD is narrated in German - I didn't realize the stories would also be on the CD so this was a nice surprise.At first the pages can be a little overwhelming to look at and might be difficult for a child to follow because of all the text, but the pictures are nice and colorful.The voice of the Woman on the CD is very dramatic with a strong vibrato - Good German style, but could be seen by some as a bit over the top. The childrens choir is great.

This is a very good music and book. The cd is very well done and the songs are all memorable and instantly likeable German Christmas songs. This is a cd which is pleasant just to listen to. Our family has been learning little bits of German language and German folk songs and this is an especially nice one for the Christmas season. The music is all very cheerful and lively sounding. The lady gives a carefully pronounced narration in German before each song, which is translated in the book into English. We got another cd of German Christmas songs "WeinachtLieder" by LiederProjekt, which was not nearly as nice.

This is a charming little book and the associated CD makes it a wonderful tool for learning how to hear spoken German. The songs are well chosen and quite lovely. I was surprised at how many of these songs are also selections on Deutsche Grammophon's "das Weihnachtsalbum" Christmas Album: Original Masters, which is itself a five star choice for any kind of Chistmas music.I have two small observations: The translations from Greman to English are not what I would call "literal" but rather "paraphrase." But that is not really bad because one should always make one's own translation. Second, I would have omitted the English versions of some of the songs. But these are just "de minimus" observations.

I learned a lot about the Christmas traditions along with the songs. A great resource.

love it! we listen to it and my daughter dances around... i want her to be familiar with other languages. this is my fav of all the ones we have bought. it also teaches a bit about German culture and traditions too which i find valuable in fostering a sense of others-centeredness. i want my kids to know and understand that we Americans aren't "it" and that there are very interesting and valuable things to learn and appreciate about ather cultures and people groups.

But you have to be open minded enough to align yourself to the dark spiritual current that this work belongs to. It is in fact, adversarial. These aren't nice spirits. They are heinous. Absolute MONSTERS! If you are a properly individuated Mage, you could do well with this, but not if you are a petulant teenage devil worshipper with mommy and daddy issues. I guarantee you'll get your butt kicked if you don't use this magick responsibly and carefully. The author offers ample warnings in the book. Be wise and heed them. Also you are aligning yourself to the spirits here. Not forcing them through strong and offensive conjuring as in the Goetia. You might get better results with this method, but be careful. Make sure you're in a balanced emotional state and make sure you know your own Dark Side.

They said the effect was so dramatic and diabolical... they hope to never need to use it again...If nothing else, this book contains secrets and concepts that you can apply to other black magick rituals, the various triangles of Arte, Lunate script, and other ritual concepts are ripe for use by any chaote looking to add some artistic nuances to their rituals.Qayin does it like nobody else. The man is a true artist.

An excellent book, not something for beginners or those who are not seriously committed to the darker aspects of magick. If you aren't willing to perform Baneful magick yourself, you should not purchase this book. Powerful, simple, beautiful, and deadly. This is a book of truly black, devastating, and Baneful magick. The author knows what He's talking about, and his writing style is very engaging and easy to read.

I'd been dragging my feet on this for years. My dreams have been far more telling then ever before, and this was one of the things that was suggested to me through that medium. I finally got it, and I couldn't be happier. If you work with the Djinn, or anything related to Goetia, and 'demons', you need to get this. Give it a shot, what's the worst that could happen, you get what you desire?

Amazing tome! This author is incredible! Comprehensive and easy to follow, the circles and triangles of are, and lunate script are something to behold, and very effective. The information and rites provided are both relevant and versatile... I've used much of these ideas in my personal work (outside of djinn) I would highly recommend any work by S. Ben Quayin! This man is more than just an author, he is an artist of the highest caliper, and his work shows it!

Gave good insight how to work with the book. If you really want to destroy an enemy with hatred and rage, and one of these entities decides to work with you, your adversary is doomed. I would never want to be on the receiving end of an attack from these spirits. Use this book with caution and make certain to have a good reason and target.

I received this music book for Christmas. It’s a perfect addition to my music library. What is so very special about this book is that it tells you about where the music was first performed and the artist that sang the songs. I’m sure this song book will become one of my favorite. I have a really smart husband, now I will be playing for hours and he can enjoy the football game with out interruptions from me!

These decade books are wonderful and have many popular songs of the era. I use this to give background music to gatherings and receptionsand the residents love hearing songs they heard on the radio. The book arrived in great condition and was well packaged. I was happy how quickly it arrived.

For those interested in the origin and development of the Cartier Tank range of watches this is the book to have without question.

Perhaps the most fascinating book encountered this year. A masterpiece in historical research and interpretation, accompanied by outstanding photographs.

I have been a fan of Cartier & the tank waches for decades. I have owned some of the best.

I purchased this book soon after I purchased a pre-owned vermeil Cartier Tank, and came to appreciate it even more after I purchased a pre-owned Tank Francaise - my dream watch. It is one of those rare breed of book - the type of nonfiction book I can look at over and over and over, for the rest of my life, if possible.Though surely translated from the Italian this is absolutely beautifully written, and the photos/illustrations are also fabulous. I have now seen the 2014 edition, which is very difficult to find a copy of, even in Cleveland, and I had to get it through long-distance Interlibrary Loan. Though also beautifully written, and with still more fabulous photos and illustrations (it did drop some of my favorites though, to compensate), I have actually found several typo's so far and it lacks a certain something. Perhaps it is because I'm so extremely familiar with much of the text in the first edition and I haven't had enough chance to really think about new phrases in the new edition? One thing I missed was something comparable to the first edition's named watchmakers in the top tiers of watches as to reputation and quality. I really wanted to see what the second edition had to say about that but Cologni didn't get into it again. In all, this coffee-table book symbolizes to me sophistication, elegance, historical perspective, and truly beautiful writing and illustrating.

Great history of the Cartier tank watch through the 20th century until now. Full of interesting information and photographs.Fun to see how the tank has evolved over the years and who wore it in the past.

I bought this book a couple years ago, and I still enjoy looking through it today. Besides being an excellent historical account on the origins of the Tank watch, it also includes a detailed chronological picture catalogue of all Tank watches produced by Cartier. I recommend it to anyone who owns or admires the Tank and wants to learn more about the origins of this much-copied Cartier classic.

I ordered this for my mom and it is not a watch. She wanted the tank watch, not the book. I should have checked her order, as she is an English Language Learner and obviously did not read the description carefully, so we sent it back. Poor mom.
